Social marketing software review - A user experience

Welcome to part one of a series where we explore search engine optimization and social media submission software and services.

Search engine optimization and submission programs, we have tried them all, at least the big names like XGenSEO Web CEO, IBP, SEO Powesuite and SEO administrator.  In relation to social media marketing  we have also tried Traffic Geyser, Tube Mogul and  Hey Spread.

If you are considering doing your own SEO on a budget then you can't go past Web CEO. Their free edition will get you started. The program features on-page optimization report for your website which includes the details on what changes you may need to make to your site to improve your status with the major search engines. The free version of any SEO software is generally not suitable for multiple clients such as a web design company or SEO agency. In this situation you will likely want to provide your customers with a professional report featuring your own company Logo. In addition you will no doubt want to edit the report to feature your own hyper-links and design. What surprises me is the amount of people I come across who want to offer professional services and yet are reticent to invest a relatively small amount in the software which will help them to the job more effectively.

We are an SEO agency and therefore are always on the lookout for the latest SEO software and systems. Our success depends on making sure we can do our job in quickest possible time and get our clients on first page of the major search engines for their chosen keywords phrases. That is the reason why we try all major SEO software for extended periods to really understand it success and its failing's.

Firstly though, lets remind ourselves why we need some type of SEO Software. I am sure you will agree that the only way to drive traffic to your website, is to create quality content which is evolving all the time and the reason a person wants to use SEO software is usually to submit a site to major search engines, check the rankings of a particular keyword phrase and assist in the submission of content to social media networks. What system you use depends on the nature of your business, whether you personally are going to do the SEO work or maybe you supervise the activities of another who is engaged to do the SEO for your company. Most SEO software will generate good reports with On-page optimization advice but it is the off page functionality of the software that interests us the most. In fact did you know that On-page optimization (the pages in your actual website) only accounts for about 10% of total SEO activity?

So what is 'Off-page' optimization?  It is the process of creating quality content in varied forms and submitting that content to appropriate networks. The submitted content is eventually located by major search engines and traced to the source, you! your website. If the content you created is original, of good quality and relevance to your sites products and or services and if the network to which the content is posted is also held in good steed by internet community, then your site will be favored in the eyes of search engines. As a result they will rank you higher for your chosen keyword phrases.  Search engine marketing involves continuing to create quality content and of course post that content to the relevant article directories, blogs and media sites.

Many people will study an online SEO training course so that they have a better grasp of the functionality of the software so be prepared for a bit of a learning curve.

In our next article we will take a look and compare the major players including Search Engine Marketing Training.

Social Marketing Software targets the Silver Surfers!

UK regulatory agency Ofcom released a report that sheds more light on a market niche that is consistently ignored by Silicon Valley: The over-50 crowd. The report states, "’Silver surfers’ also account for an increasing amount of internet use with nearly 30 percent of total time spent on the internet accounted for by over-50s …"

As more retirees exit the work force bolstered with bulging internet knowledge these people are turning to social networking to maintain contacts with friends and family.  Contrary to the belief that social networking is only for teenagers and those in the mid- twenties, seniors are web savvy and flocking to the face book pages.

I was surprised recently to discover that a good friend's mother a conservative Chinese woman in her mid-seventies an active user of social networking including her penchant for churning out blogs and writing on Face Book Walls at such intensity I would have to call her a Face Book Wall graffitist!

Retirement and old age in the past often meant forced isolation for many people especially those seniors who live at a distance or overseas from their children or grandchildren. However the internet has changed that and now seniors can keep contact with their family, take up hobbies in digital photography to download photos and in general have a whole new world open up to them.

The Silver Sufers are out there with the rest of us surfing the net for holidays, gardening tips, sporting results and so on and sharing the information with other friends on the Social Network channels.

If you are in business and blind to this point you are then missing out on 30% of the market. Get with it before our seniors leave you behind! Search Engine Marketing Training will help you to keep up to date and ensure your website is optimized for your most important keyword phrases
